Bakersfield’s Amazing Race was a Success

20 Apr

ImageBakersfield’s Steward’s Inc. hosted the first Amazing Race on Saturday April 13th. “It was pretty awesome” said Andrew Saenz. Over 150 people showed up to participate in the scavenger and obstacle course. These participants walked or some even ran from Stewards Inc. on 2211 H Street until dashing at the finish line On the Rocks Bar & Grill in 1517 18th Street.

The first place winners of this event were team Talk Nerdy To me.

Some of the other team names were Sole mates, Speed Racers, Valley Fever, 2 Hot Dogs, 2 Tacos, Race to the Alter, Children First, Super Moms, and The Things to name a few, but the list goes on. There were over 50 teams.

What can we say events like these do not happen every day. It is surely not every Saturday afternoon that people have the chance to win $1000 to walk around the streets of downtown Bakersfield while dressed in costumes and solving clues, and help out a needy cause such as the Stewards Inc.

Organizers already started their countdown for next year. “It’s going to be bigger, even better, huge next year” said Andrew Saenz. They are hoping different hosts will be able to run different games. This year they had Mayor Harvey Hall open up the race by blowing his whistle. But next year they are going to see if Hall can host a game and maybe Space Ship Young Blood can also join this event.
